How to Setup Open WebUI with Kimi K2.5

This guide shows how you can configure Open WebUI to access your local Kimi K2.5 installation. If you haven't installed Open WebUI yet, please read the Open WebUI setup guide.

How to configure Kimi K2 in Open WebUI

  1. Launch Open WebUI
  2. Open admin panel
  3. Navigate to Connections in settings
  4. Add new connection
  5. Enter connection details
  6. Save connection
  7. Send prompt to Kimi K2.5

Step 1 - Open admin panel in Open WebUI

Launch Open WebUI in your web browser and navigate to the admin panel by clicking on your profile icon or username. Select "Admin Panel" from the dropdown menu to access the administrative interface. The admin panel provides access to connection management, model configuration, and other system settings that allow you to add external API endpoints.

Step 2 - Navigate to Connections in settings

In the admin panel, locate and click on "Connections" in the left sidebar navigation menu. The Connections page displays existing API integrations and provides options to add new connections, modify existing ones, or remove outdated endpoints. This is where you'll configure the direct connection to your Kimi K2.5 server (Figure 2).

Step 3 - Add new connection

Click the "Add Connection" button to begin creating a new API connection. This opens a configuration form where you'll specify the connection details. The form includes fields for the API URL and authentication credentials (Figure 3).

Step 4 - Enter connection details and save

Fill in the connection form with your Kimi K2.5 server details. Click "Save" to create the connection and make it available for model selection in Open WebUI (Figure 4).

Step 5 - Send prompt to Kimi model

Return to the main Open WebUI chat interface and select the Kimi K2.5 model from the model dropdown menu. Enter a simple prompt to test the model's reasoning capabilities. Send the message to initiate a conversation with the model. The model should begin generating a response that includes both reasoning content and a final answer, allowing you to observe how the thinking process is displayed (Figure 5).
